Ithemba
Empowering Women In Africa
Project Ithemba (meaning 'hope' in Xhosa) aims to address the challenges faced by African communities due to the absence of a convertible currency, by monetizing locally available commodities such as vanilla, coffee and cloves.
Project Ithemba seeks to create sustainable, community-based systems that benefit all villagers collectively.
In areas where access to clean water is a daily struggle, young women and children spend hours collecting and carrying contaminated water from rivers. Ithemba aims to provide a solution.
The projects offer participating villages clean water systems, utilizing equipment powered by solar
panels.
Ithemba helps communities to collectively and sustainably monetize local commodities such as seasonal fruits or other natural products.
This model will enable communities to afford electricity, thereby decreasing deforestation. Access to clean, hot water and steam for disinfection will decrease waterborne diseases, thereby decreasing morbidity and mortality and will allow healthcare facilities to function.
By providing these resources, Project Ithemba aims to improve health. Access to the internet, will enable English classes for improved global communication and revolutionize education. Young women and girls will be empowered to achieve personal independence.

By embracing sustainable practices and prioritizing education and health, Project Ithemba aspires to create a brighter future for African communities while preserving their rich cultural heritage. The village will sustainably utilize agricultural produce, while carefully respecting natural resources, thereby reducing deforestation and improving quality of life

Chairman's announcement :
Ithemba’s Mission and Exciting Developments
Ithemba was established to advance its model of empowering young
girls in Madagascar by keeping them in school rather than fetching
water; a vision aligned with promoting education and sustainable
development.
We are honored to share that Dr. Justin Mahafaky, our President of
development in Madagascar , has been appointed as a UNASDG
Madagascar Ambassador. This prestigious recognition underscores
his dedication to advancing global sustainability goals.
Looking ahead, we are proud to announce a groundbreaking initiative launching in January 2024 in collaboration with Coca-Cola Madagascar and its representative, Mr. Malik Karmaly, whose invaluable support has been instrumental. Together, we will begin providing free potable water to Antananarivo as part of a pilot program.
This initial phase will distribute 2,000 gallons of free water daily, with plans to scale operations to 1,000,000 liters per day. Ithemba is committed to investing up to $17,000,000 to ensure access to free, clean water for all citizens of Antananarivo.
The program will officially commence on
January 17, 2024, in partnership with
Father Pedro and Coca-Cola Madagascar.
We are excited about the positive
impact this initiative will have and
remains steadfast in our commitment to
creating a better future for Madagascar.
